Hello everyone!
Hope you all found your way here ok. This is a place where we can discuss the cabin, work that needs to be done, suggestions, etc. It's a place where everyone can communicate. The blog should be set up so that we can all make posts, but I have never done a multi-author blog before, so I'm not sure how it works exactly. You can always post comments below a particular entry too. If I have left anyone out, please let me know their email and I will add them to the list.
The first topic is that my Mom, Margaret Tom, will be in Colorado from Sept 8th to the 27th to visit family and to take a look at the cabin. She wants to get the roof stabilized so that the interior isn't getting damaged. Another concern is that both cabins have a fire break around them - they may already have been cleared but neither of us can remember!
If anyone has suggestions for an addition to the cabin or other work that needs to be done, please post your ideas and suggestions. Hopefully this will result in the family being more organized and effective and we can coordinate our efforts. I have personally avoided going to the cabin because it is about 6 hours from us and since we had put everything away with the thought that it wasn't habitable in it's current condition we couldn't stay there. We do have a travel trailer and maybe Della and Joel still have their VW camper? However, having an electric and water hook-up (and a level parking spot) for RVs would be nice, too. We tend to roam around in the trailer and would stop there more often if we had a place to park.
If anyone has any other issues or topics they would like to bring up, please feel free to put your two cents in. You can also upload photos which might be helpful for explaining things and perhaps just sharing good times.

Hey all. My family really doesn't get out to the cabin much, but mostly because it's too much work. If we knew we had a safe place to sleep, we would probably make summer plans around the cabin and I'd love to have a place where all the (& second?) cousins could get together more than once every few years.
Hi Cari and everyone. Cari, thanks for setting up this blog, what a great idea! Hope everyone had a fun 4th. We just got back from the Harry Potter theme park and Disney World and had a great time. We hope to be out at the cabins in the first half of August. We try to get out there each August and plan to continue doing so.
I think roof stabilizing is a good idea, at least to the extent it keeps the weather out. We should think about a longer term roof fix in the context of broader plans for the structure For example, the new roof would need to account for removal or rebuilding of one or more of the porches.
Medium term I think that should happen and that can be done in stages considering money and effort. My goals would be preserving the central main room, increasing accessibility of the view to the valley, making sleeping areas modern and comfortable, adding a bathroom, and making one bathroom accessible to the common areas (like the main room, kitchen) without going into a bedroom, and the other bathroom accessible to the bedrooms.
